Experiencing an upset stomach? Here are four signs you may want to see a doctor for care:

Severe pain

If you can’t get comfortable without raging stomach pain, you should consult a doctor. Similarly, if you need to curl into a ball to feel any sort of relief, that’s also a reason for immediate medical attention.

Troubling side symptoms
If your stomach discomfort is accompanied by fever, yellow skin, severe tenderness, persistent nausea, or bloody stool, you may want to get checked out by a doctor immediately. You want to make sure this isn’t a more serious condition.
Pain that’s lasted a few days
Stomach pain from gas is common and usually harmless. But if you’ve had consistent pain for a few days, you may want to make an appointment with your doctor or talk to a doctor online to see if anything more serious is going on.
Dehydration

When you get sick and vomit, you may lose a lot of fluids. If you are unable to keep any fluids down, you might need medical attention so you can stay hydrated.

Still not sure whether you should see a doctor? Talk to a doctor on Amwell about your symptoms, get next steps for care, and a prescription when needed.
