June is Men’s Health Month!
Take time to prioritize your health this month and all year long with these five healthy habits:

Get moving!

Exercise can help control weight, reduce the risk of heart disease, and improve mental health and mood. The CDC recommends adults get 2.5 hours of physical activity each week. If this sounds like a lot, don’t worry  even a small amount of activity can have a positive impact on your health! One way to start small is by taking a short walk each day and slowly working your way up to a longer distance.

Try to find an exercise that you enjoy. Would a club sport or local league increase your activity without even having to step foot in a gym? Or does listening to a great playlist get you pumped up to jog on a treadmill? Making exercise fun can help you more easily incorporate it into your daily life.

Take care of your
mind

Did you know that over half of adults say that stress and worry related to the pandemic has had a negative impact on their mental health? Check in with yourself. If you’re feeling tired, frustrated, down, you are not alone. Take time to do activities you enjoy, rest, and reach out for support when you need it.

Eat
healthy

Eating well can affect your body and mind! Healthy eating and regular activity can help you control your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and weight. Include a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet. The more colorful your plate, the better! Not sure what to make? Aim to try one new recipe a week or talk to a nutritionist about a meal plan.

How’s your lifestyle?

If you smoke, make a plan to get support and quit this year. And if you drink alcohol, make sure to do so in moderation — up to 2 drinks in a day for men

See a
doctor

Do you have a primary care doctor? Getting regular checkups, tests, and screenings can help your doctor identify any concerns early, before you have symptoms. It’s a good idea to learn about your family’s health history and let your doctor know, too

One of the simplest things you can do for your health is to get care when you need it. If you’re not feeling well, see a doctor! You can get care from the comfort of home for many conditions, without ever making an appointment. Talk to a doctor online using Amwell anytime 24/7 — right from your smartphone or computer!
