Therapy is a very personal matter. Let’s face it, you don’t want everyone at work – and maybe not at home either – knowing you’re seeing a therapist. Why not try online therapy with video visits? Unlike in-person visits, which require you to take time off work and travel to appointments, online therapy can be scheduled on your time – so you can fit it in during your workday or from the comfort of home. Lindsay Henderson – one of our therapists here at Amwell – has outlined 5 reasons why you may want to make 2018 your year to give it a shot.
Find the right therapist.
One of the most important aspects of any therapy session is finding a therapist that is a good match for you. Every therapist is different and your therapy session should be completely about you. Some therapists are more active than others and sometimes, you want a therapist you can simply spill to. On Amwell, all of our counselors are listed in one place with a brief biography, headshot and description of their therapy style. So you can find a counselor that is that perfect match for you.
Getting to a therapy appointment can be the hardest part. But with Amwell, the therapist comes to you via mobile or web – to wherever you may be. So when you’re ready to set up an appointment, you can do it on your time. Typically, a patient will have two options when scheduling an appointment:
- “See a Therapist Now” lets you see the first therapist available.
- Self-scheduling lets you pick a time with the therapist you’ve chosen.
Seeing a therapist online is a lot like seeing one face-to-face. In fact, you are face to face – but the big difference is that it is a lot more convenient. As long as you have a mobile device, tablet or desktop you can see a therapist.
Couples or group therapy.
Let’s be honest – getting everyone in the same room, in the same place, at the same time can be difficult. Amwell has multiway video, so that you and your spouse, family member, etc. can individually call in from your mobile devices.
Privacy is a priority.
With online therapy, you can keep your private life, private. You can fit it in during your lunch break at work or schedule your appointments during evenings or weekends from home.
So if you’re considering online therapy, make 2018 your year to try Amwell – we’re here for you.
