How it works
Have questions about the Amwell application? Look no further.
You have questions and we have answers.
You log on to Amwell, set up your free account and have a visit. Your visit ends, but you still have questions. Can you see a doctor from another state? Can your child have a visit while you accompany them? Can you get prescriptions from an online doctor? We have the answers.
Many people have questions after experiencing telehealth, especially after their first time. We want to make your experience with Amwell as smooth and pleasant as possible. Therefore, we have answered your most commonly asked questions and outlined them below.
Don’t see your question? Don’t worry. Just e‑mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 877-410-5548. We have highly trained health service specialists ready to take your call, 24/7.

Yes. Just make sure to select the state you’re in under ‘My Location’ and you’ll only see doctors licensed to treat you in that state. When using the app, you can choose to update your current state based on mobile geolocation, making it faster to find a doctor whether you are home or on the go. Doctor visits via telehealth are permitted in every state nationwide.
To keep health information private, each adult must create their own account. Children under 18 may be added to their parents account.
- Log in and navigate to My Account.
- Under My Children, click Add.
- You can then choose to either create a new profile or link to an existing profile.
The choice is yours. You will be asked if you want a copy of your session notes and after‑visit summary to be shared with your primary care provider. If you choose to share your after‑visit summary, Amwell will fax or electronically transmit it for you. You can also print the notes and save them for your own files or share them with other healthcare professionals. You may also decide not to share this information.
