Physicians on Amwell provide care for:

Why other people tried our online urgent care for the first time.

A great solution to getting well: The flu hit me like a ton of bricks when my husband was going out of town. I care for 3 kids as well as my aging parents and so I needed to get well as soon as possible. The video chat with a professional and courteous physician absolutely made my day. And she sent an Rx directly to my pharmacy. Another huge time saver. Could not be more impressed. Will definitely use again!

Mary Beth L.

I'm a fan for life. I wasn't looking for a virtual doctor. But it fit my need as time was of the essence and I didn't have much of it. Dr. Thompson took charge of my situation of needs and just shined. The experience was both warm and comforting. My experience with Amwell and Dr. Thompson was a comprehensive care solution. And the kicker is I saved both time and money.

Scott S.

Peace of mind, from your own home: The last thing you want to do when you're feeling ill is drag yourself out of the house and off to the doctor. Having the convenience of virtually visiting a qualified doctor in the comfort of your own home is absolutely priceless!

The doctors on Amwell are part of the Amwell Medical Group, which is a primary care practice with a national network of board-certified doctors who, on average, have 15 years of experience. Doctors are both single- and multi-state licensed and credentialed to work in your state of residence; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each of our doctors goes through a rigorous selection process to become a part of the network.

Unfortunately, no. Doctors on Amwell are there to support your care between office visits, such as when you are traveling or when you have a non‑emergency or low‑acuity health condition.

Yes, by dialing 1-844-SEE-DOCS you can connect with agents who can assist you with whatever it is you’re looking for, including enrollment, connecting with a doctor, or answering any technical support questions.

Yes. Just make sure to select the state you’re in under ‘My Location’ and you’ll only see doctors licensed to treat you in that state. When using the app, you can choose to update your current state based on mobile geolocation, making it faster to find a doctor whether you are home or on the go. Doctor visits via telehealth are permitted in every state nationwide.

No. At this time we operate only within the United States.

Children under the age of 18 may be added to your Amwell account.

Yes, you can get a prescription online. While there is support for this nationwide, there are several exceptions to be aware of. Learn more on our prescriptions page.

Doctors on Amwell will discuss your health history and assess whether a refill is safe at this time or whether it would be necessary to see your primary care physician in person. The decision to provide a refill and the quantity is at the sole discretion of the doctor. Be sure to share any information you have about your health history and condition that may help facilitate your refill, such as recent lab tests or blood pressure readings.

Doctors on Amwell are able to provide simple forms like sick slips or back to work/school documents as clinically appropriate. Be sure to request the documentation before ending your conversation. Please note that doctors on Amwell are not able to provide more substantial documents like FMLA forms, disability forms, or handicap/DMV documents as these documents require an in‑person evaluation.

No. Doctors on Amwell are not able to order lab tests. Due to the nature of telehealth, it is difficult to follow up, obtain the results, and interpret these tests. Our providers may suggest following up with your in‑person provider and obtaining a test, however they are unable to order a test on your behalf.

You may choose to share this information. You will be asked if you want a copy of your after-visit summary to be shared with your primary care provider. If you choose to share your after-visit summary, Amwell will fax or electronically transmit your after-visit summary to your PCP. You may also decide not to share this information. The choice is yours.

Don’t see your question? Don’t worry. Just e‑mail customer.support@amwell.com or call 1-877-410-5548. We have highly-trained health service specialists ready to take your call, 24/7.

Yes, during your visit just ask the doctor to write you a doctor's note and you will get a secure message with the sick slip attached. This note is stored in your account under both secure messages and past visits. If you're having trouble printing the note from your mobile device, you can log in through the desktop version and print directly from there.

To keep health information private, each adult must create their own account. Children under 18 may be added to their parents account.

If you think you’re experiencing a medical emergency, please do not use telehealth. Instead, you should immediately seek emergency care by calling 911.
