Illness or injury can strike at any time. Amwell helps you get back on your feet, no matter where you are or the time of day. You can see a doctor online for a range of issues, from minor illnesses and injuries, symptoms from a chronic condition, or to address general health concerns. Here are a few reasons people go online to see a doctor:
The cost of a visit is $79, compared to the average national cost of $139 for an office visit or $645 for an emergency room visit, and may be even less as some employers and insurance companies cover telehealth visits. Contact your Human Resources department or health insurance company to see if your visit is covered. This cost does not include the cost of any prescriptions, follow-up lab work or follow-up visits if deemed applicable.
A typical doctor visit on Amwell is 10 minutes – the amount of time needed to handle most medical issues. Of course, you can add more time should you need to.
Amwell is designed for on-demand care so no appointment is necessary. After you register and log in to Amwell, doctors who are available for a visit will appear on your screen. You can browse doctor profiles and select who you want to see by clicking on the green “Connect” button. If no one is available, you will be placed in a "waiting room" and notified by text message once a doctor becomes available.
Amwell is an affordable, convenient way to resolve routine medical conditions. Our secure technology makes it possible to see a doctor face to face, without having to leave home, on your smartphone, desktop or telephone. With video, providers can look, listen, and engage with you to diagnose health concerns and provide you with an effective treatment plan.
Doctors on Amwell will discuss your health history and assess whether a refill is safe at this time or whether it would be necessary to see your primary care physician in person. The decision to provide a refill and the quantity is at the sole discretion of the doctor. Be sure to share any information you have about your health history and condition that may help facilitate your refill, such as recent lab tests or blood pressure readings.
No. The cost is the same no matter when you visit with the doctor.
